Cast of Busybody

Beryl Binns Mrs Piper
Beryl began her career back in 1912 in Paris alongside a touring mime company, specialising in being trapped in a glass box. This success later led to her work in the Cirque d' Soleil as a trapeze artist and as the only woman in Western Europe who could actually talk to the animals. Two years later, Beryl co-wrote Dr Dolittle and starred as a monkey in London's West End. The introduction of the "talkies" led to the decline of Beryl Binns - a decline to the bottom of a gin bottle!

Neil Hellewell Richard Marshall
Neil divides his acting time between the Little Theatre and Sutton Amateurs. 2005 proved to be a very busy year for Neil, with him appearing in five different shows with parts as diverse as the lovable Canon Chasuble in "The Importance of Being Earnest" to Herr Flick of the Gestapo in "‘Allo ‘Allo"! Neil also took on a leading role in "Hello Dolly" and appeared as the Fairy Godfather in "Cinderella". Appearing on the Little Theatre stage in just his underwear is starting to become a habit!

Brian Wakeling Detective Constable Goddard
Brian first joined Skipton Players in 1995, and almost immediately got a part. He spent much of the next two years backstage, then went to university. He returned to Skipton in 2002, with his first job at the theatre being Fight Director for "Maskerade", as well as taking a major part in it. He has since been frequently on- or back-stage. He also writes.

Chris Birch Detective Superintendent Baxter
Chris is a long-standing member of the Players. He did Shakespeare and Moliere at school, then rested until the 1970s. He has a strong voice, capable of delivering many different accents, and singing in musicals. He's had principal parts, small parts and cameos in plays and musicals, both costumed and contemporary, comedy and drama.
Helen Parkinson Claire Marshall
Helen started working backstage with the Bradford Gilbert &amp Sullivan Society at the age of nine, making tea, doing make-up &amp props, and finally as ASM. She started acting at 15, doing Gilbert &amp Sullivan and musicals in Bradford, Shipley and Yeadon. She's done a number of parts with the Profile Theatre Company, including religious plays, childrens' productions, and panto. Her last part was in "Servant of Two Masters" with Skipton Players.

Wendy Milner Marian Selby
No information available.
Philip Smith Robert Westerby
Along with directing, Philip has played many roles (both big and small) over the years but would relish the opportunity to play an evil character for a change. Philip is often seen appearing with Sutton Amateurs, usually in their pantomime. Philip has also played in Grassington, taking on the role of Pop Larkin in "The Darling Buds of May".

Roxanne Williams Vickie Reynolds
Roxanne (or Roxy to her friends) has been appearing on the Little Theatre stage for almost seven years in various roles. At one point in her acting career she became close to being typecast as "the dizzy blonde"! Roxanne is also a regular cast member of the annual Embsay pantomime. She has discovered an aptitude for painting scenery!

Crew of Busybody

Director Sue Clements

Sue has many years of experience (some of them in the theatre!). She has been quite active up at Grassington in past years, but first appeared at SLT as a very formidable Granny Weatherwax in our 2002 production of "Maskerade" by Terry Pratchett. She has since been in a fair number of productions here.
